The Great James Dunn runs the Great North Run

James Dunn running for Manorlands

In a fit of excitement, after the Manorlands Keighley 5K & 10K, our very own James Dunn signed up to run the Great North Run half marathon. Quite why he was inspired to run 13 miles, after what was a terrible March day of weather when the AWB Charlesworth gazebo got swept away by the driving rain and wind, surprises us all.

Actually that’s not true: it’s the Manorlands effect.

The care at Manorlands is incredible; supporting individuals who are in serious health situations, as well as their families. They really are incredible and James (and AWB Charlesworth) are proud to support them.

The vast majority of the funding for the hospice comes from donations as only a small fraction comes from government support, hence the continued need for fund-raising. Manorlands have helped a huge number of people: many of us know someone firsthand who has been cared for by them. This care drives us to support Manorlands in the work they do. That’s the Manorlands effect. We care for the people that care for us.

James Dunn is, by his own admittance, no Mo Farah and he’s pushing himself way out of his comfort zone for this amazing charity. Any support you can offer would be greatly appreciated and will make a real difference to people in awful circumstances.
