We’re Finalists in the Yorkshire Legal Awards! Solicitor, Aqeelah Bahadar has been shortlisted as Rising Star, and our Private Client department was shortlisted too!
The Rising Star category was hard-fought with 27 nominations, so we’re particularly pleased that Aqeelah beat the competition.
Aqeelah started out her law career as a legal secretary but impressed us with her knowledge, ambition and compassion, and soon was promoted to paralegal, followed by a training contract. She works closely with our highly-experienced legal accountant, Sally Houghton, enabling Aqeelah to learn and develop her wills, trust and probate knowledge.
Aqeelah is now able to take on cases of high value which is unique for a solicitor of her qualification. She recently dealt with an estate valued at over £2 million which had additional complexities. Aqeelah rose to the challenge and administered the estate competently, efficiently and to high praise from the clients.
Aqeelah is also able to turn her hand and knowledge to unusual matters. She provides the support, professionalism and compassion to make clients feel both important and that their concerns can be solved. Legal services are frequently tied up with financial security, and whilst in-depth knowledge of the law is essential, a problem-solving nature is also key.
Aqeelah has a wonderful way with clients. Her calm, kind manner particularly suits many of our older clients and here is just some of the feedback we’ve received in the last few months:

Our client survey forms monitor standards across a number of areas. So far in 2024, every aspect of every client feedback for Aqeelah has been returned as ‘Excellent’ with a few marked ‘Good’. Aqeelah consistently offers an outstanding service.
Aqeelah is a Dementia Friend and is part of an internal team working towards AWB Charlesworth becoming a Dementia Friendly organisation. And Aqeelah’s work on Sharia law and her interactions with the local community in this area is both making her an expert in this field, and generating positivity within the community.
